Air America goes NPR.

I was under the impression that Air America was a for-profit corporation. Imagine my surprise, then...

...to find this.

Apparently, the scandal involving the theft of money from the Boys & Girls Club to pay for Air America's startup has so demolished their image (yeah, like they had one to begin with... a network that actually broadcasts Jerry Springer has some serious programming problems) that they've had to resort to a Public Radio-esque pledge drive.

Maybe Teddy Kennedy will introduce legislation to give it government funding.

See, here's the thing...

The "prizes" aren't even all that great. $50 gets three bumper stickers. $100 gets that and a "stylish" tote (read: it cost 'em three bucks for an iron-on transfer and a crappy canvas bag).

Oh, but here's the big one:

At the $250 level, they'll *gasp* thank you on-air.

Just what I want. Al Franken's acknowledgement of me on the air.

By the way, they're "grateful" for any donation. I'm tempted to donate 50 cents...Buy yourself a paper, Air America. You're out of touch with America. The best solution to your financial woes is to just go off the air.

Liberalism is on the decline in America. That's why Air America has 70 affiliates nationwide, and Rush Limbaugh has more than that in California, Texas and Indiana alone. They're out of touch. It's not working for them. Why don't they understand this? Why don't they see that they don't speak for the American people? Because they're out of touch.

Liberalism on the decline? Yet another beautiful thing.

Yet Another 'Stuck On Stupid' Post

General Honore finally said what everyone else has been thinking.

Honore: Don't get stuck on stupid, reporters. We are moving forward. And don't confuse the people, please. You are part of the public message, so help us get the message straight. And if you don't understand, maybe you'll confuse it to the people. That's why we like follow-up questions. But right now, it's [the plan to bring evacuees to] the convention center, and move [them on from there].

Reporter: General, a little bit more about why that's happening this time, though, and did not have that last time...

Honore: You are stuck on stupid. I'm not going to answer that question.”

The Nose On Your Face has an interesting take on the situation… “I've got twenty years in this field. I've spun press conferences without a notepad and a pen. I've worked without a recorder and a cell phone... But when he took "stupid" off of the table, I knew the gig was up.” Satire, of course- no one really said that. But it brings up an interesting point.

That point is pretty simple to anyone who’s been paying attention.

The liberal media is on its knees. They’re grasping at straws, trying desperately to keep their hold over Americans who have turned the tables on them. Americans who have taken back the media in the form of blogs are now spreading their free thought all over the internet, and the citizens of this country are loving it. But the establishment media hates the idea- they’re losing their control!

America has finally realized that the media- and the democrats who are holding their leashes- don’t speak for them.

And that’s a beautiful thing.
